My first piece of women’s fiction comes out this November. It has been a DREAM of mine to write this type of fiction. Since I started writing for publication, my instinct has been to write character-driven stories from a woman’s perspective. But, I also love a good, clean romance story, and Romance was my entry and season in traditional publishing (and I am certain to have more romances sprout from my writing desk in the future).😍
During my writing break, I dove into reading strong character-driven fiction, by authors I could never match, but whose stories inspire me greatly, They reminded me what I love to read…and to write. So, I went back to my instincts, and tried a new thing (or 2).
Instead of a novel—a short story; instead of centering on romance—a focus on mothers, friendship, and the power of story.
It was so life-giving to me to explore new perspectives, and I am thrilled to have had the chance to pour my heart on the page.
I am so humbled to have this piece included with other award-winning stories from such stellar writers in the Ember and Vine Anthology.
This new thing has grown baby sprouts of poetry and prose in my life. Not sure where my next writing project will go exactly, but I am thankful to have this opportunity to write a genre close to my heart. ❤️
